Yes. Freiya is designed with GDPR compliance from the ground up. All AI processing happens on EU-hosted servers, there is zero telemetry, and your research data never leaves Europe.

Can I use Freiya offline?

Yes. Freiya works fully offline. The core features including PDF viewing, LaTeX editing, and bibliography management work without an internet connection. AI features require connectivity to EU servers.

What makes Freiya different from other research tools?

Freiya is the only research workspace specifically built for European data sovereignty. Unlike US-based tools, your data never crosses the Atlantic. We use EU-hosted AI (Mistral) and offer self-hosted options for institutions.

Is Freiya free to use?

The desktop app is completely free with all core features: PDF viewer, LaTeX editor, Markdown editor, and bibliography manager. AI features require a Pro subscription starting at €12/month.

Can we use our own AI models?

Yes. For institutional deployments, we support 'Bring Your Own Model' (BYOM). You can connect Freiya to your existing Azure OpenAI, self-hosted Ollama or vLLM instances, private Mistral servers, or any OpenAI-compatible API.

Do you offer discounts for institutions?

Yes. We offer volume discounts for institutions with 50+ researchers. Non-profit organisations and NGOs are eligible for up to 50% off our standard pricing. We also have special academic partnership arrangements.
